Interactive Classes
One of the greatest missions of our Wood & Sage Apothecary division is to share our findings, knowledge and techniques for a healthier, more nature-connected lifestyle in a very approachable way.

In supporting this mission we teach a few one on one or small group classes for adults in fun, relaxed settings. These are for the 'newbie' ~ those with an initial curiosity and the desire to possibly develop a new skill to enhance their life.

We will laugh, learn, make messes and leave the class with new appreciation, new skills and new friends.

Making Long Lasting Feta
This is one of my all-time favorite cheeses to make. Feta is a salty goat milk cheese that can be made and stored in the refrigerator in brine for months making it a super convenient cheese to have on hand! All ingredients are provided and you will learn the basic cheese techniques of milk selection, warming, creating and cutting curd, draining and brining. Because this cheese is one that has to drain overnight, you will leave with a basket of 'in-process' cheese and the brine you will need to store it the next day.

Making Hot AND Cold Process Soap
This is such an informative class! It gives you not only 1 method but 2! The knowledge to make your own soap is invaluable for those that want to avoid chemicals, be creative and give amazing gifts to friends and family!
We carve out a full afternoon of time and learn everything from oils and butters to use, creating lye solutions, tracing, coloring and scenting, to molding, decorating and curing. Because soap has to stay in a mold for 24-48 hours, you will leave with a 'mini-mold' of your own soap, 2 recipes and a variety of resources.

A Walk in the Weeds
This seasonal class will open your eyes to the multitude of beneficial plants around us every day. It's the theory of 'once you see it, you can't un-see it'. We will take a walk in nature and discover plants that you can use for health and healing.
Spring is my favorite time for this class because of the abundance of spring cleansing foraging possibilities but early summer is also very abundant. We will keep our eyes open for mullein, plantain, dandelion, chickweed, cleavers, raspberries, catmint, nettle, and so much more.
You will go home with a lot of new knowledge, appreciation and ideas on how to utilize the amazing benefits of plants that are too often ignored.
